Táakw Hít

A Storytelling Initiative

Táakw Hít is creating welcoming spaces for Taku River Tlingit citizens of all generations to come together, share stories, listen, remember, laugh, learn, and strengthen relationships. Stories can be about anything that matters to you: family, the land, hunting and fishing, childhood memories, language, food, teachings, photographs, places, change, resilience, humour, or life today.

Through gatherings in person and online, Elders, Survivors, families, youth, and community members will have opportunities to share, listen, and explore the many ways Tlingit life, knowledge, identity, and relationships to territory are lived and carried today.

Share a Story

We are looking for community members who would like to share stories in whatever way feels right to them. You do not need to be a storyteller to take part. Sometimes listening to someone else’s story is where your own memories begin.

Some stories may be shared around the table or on the land. Others may be shared through photographs, recordings, writing, art, music, or conversation.

Contact Hazel Volk: 778-585-6219 justice.storytelling@trtfn.com. If you have a story, memory, photograph, or idea you would like to share, we would love to hear from you. We also  will need volunteers to help organize the in-person events, and there are many ways to be involved!
