Negotiations Department Committees:

Current opportunities to be involved

The Negotiations Department continues to lead negotiations on behalf of the TRTFN with all levels of government to assert, protect, and advance the self-governing interests of the Nation.

We want to ensure that throughout this process the voices of the Taku people are heard as the experience, wisdom, and concerns of our citizens inform and guide our work.

The department is currently looking for applications for the committees listed below. You can find the details of each committee and the process to apply by clicking on the links in each item.

Keeping the Circle Strong – Reclaiming Jurisdiction – Advisory Committee

In 2019, the federal government introduced an Act respecting First Nations, Métis, and Inuit children, youth, and families, commonly known as Bill C-92. This Act aims to acknowledge Indigenous jurisdiction over child and family services as an inherent right to self-governance for Indigenous peoples.

TRTFN is seeking citizens who would like to join the Advisory Committee and provide guidance and counsel regarding child and family wellness practice consistent with Tlingit laws, protocols, practices, and values. The Advisory Committee will consist of up to eight (8) TRTFN citizens/community members and members would commit to a minimum term of 12 months with meetings scheduled monthly.
